Product Description
Performance is Everything.
Audix has been a leader in the professional audio industry since 1984. Their mission is to design, engineer, and manufacture high-performance products that contribute to innovation in the field. Audix D6 Cardioid Dynamic Kick Drum Microphone
The Audix D6 is a highly sought-after microphone for capturing low-frequency instruments such as the kick drum. With its VLM (Very Low Mass) diaphragm and 30Hz–15kHz frequency response, it offers superior sound quality with punchy lows and clear attack. The cardioid pickup pattern also does an excellent job of rejecting external sources from interfering with the sound of the kick drum. This makes it one of the best choices for getting pure, clean sounds every time.
- Cardioid polar pattern rejects sound from external sources
- Maximum SPL of 144dB: more than enough to withstand a pounding kick drum or thumping bass cab
- 30Hz–15kHz frequency response sports big bumps right where you need it
Dependable Cardioid Kick Drum Microphone
The Audix D6 is designed to sound good in any position and it is not dependent on finding the "sweet spot" of the drum. This is great since you know that time after time, the kick will sound great!

When recording bass cabinets, I would recommend a good, balanced condenser microphone to go along with this one to make up for the loss of mids. To that point, the Audix D6 does a pretty good job of capturing upper mids, but you may not like the particular frequency it accents.

Make sure you utilize your gates and EQ's responsibly and the D6 will be perfect for your church, concert, or studio recording.

is my intended use.
Seems to have a tight cardioid pattern which is ideal, be sure to check positioning though and have
found it's possibly better to place it a little further away from your cab, perhaps 9".
As a vocal mic (not by design) gives a rich "bass and treble" boosted sound with little popping,
proximity effect is surprisingly good and even.
Delighted..
