Music Business Goals For February 2014

Music-Business-Goals

I hope everyone’s doing good, hopefully, last month was the start of new beginnings and promising events. Here my goals for February 2014

Organizing Music Cues

There’s still so much music to go through and it seems like I’m only making a small dent into my project, but I know that finishing the smaller tasks is what it takes to complete the goal. So with that said, I’m going to continue with the plan I set in January. Prepping my tracks for music licensing → 10 tracks a day.

Building A-Team

This month, I’ll be scouting for strong, “like-minded professionals” to help build this resource. I already have a few people in mind who have agreed to come on board with me, which is excellent, but I’m still looking for more so, favorite this page as I’ll have a link from it to an application within the next few days.

Create More Video Content

As much as I like writing, I must say I enjoy creating video content a lot more. It’s fun, more engaging, and while it does take a little more “technical” know-how, I think it’s worth it and much faster once you get the hang of it.

I had a lot of fun creating videos last year but I wasn’t as consistent as I wanted to be. I wasn’t too familiar with the gear I had and constantly worried about video quality “should I use smaller cameras that fit in my pocket or should I use my Canon T3i

Should the video quality be as best as can be or should I just get it to where it looks good on YouTube and Smartphones since most people are using them these days? Also, using a higher-quality camera means working with a larger file which means dealing with longer rendering times.

So, I took a little time, weighed my options, got a little more familiar with my gear, and have come to a conclusion. My T3i is amazing but too much for what I’m trying to do (right now). I’m going to stick with using smaller cameras, like my Galaxy S4 because it’s faster, the file size is smaller and the quality is good enough for YouTube.

I’m sure my taste will change as I learn and adapt more, but for right now I have to go with what allows me to move forward at a faster pace.

Diy Music Biz Podcast

Geez, I feel like this is never going to launch lol. I’m still mapping it out, I got some great feedback and suggestions for my subscribers as well as some of my friends who run popular podcasts, and right now I’m just trying to get down to the nitty-gritty to make it consistent.

I now have the month blocked out and agreed upon with a friend (accountability partner) and it will launch in March for sure, not April, not May, not February but March → 2014 of course 🙂

Had to be pushed to April for life and technical reasons, April will be the month of the launch. Sorry for the delay, but it’s coming
I’m such a stickler for consistency, I want everything to run like an oiled machine. I don’t want to start something that’s going to take away from my creation time or personal life. Things like this are always a concern of mine.

Music Marketing Training

Right now, I’m wrapping up the music licensing portion of my Diy Music Biz Essentials Course and moving into the marketing portion this month starting February 5th. I sent off an email asking everyone which marketing platform they wanted to learn about and the majority swung to Twitter so that’s what we’ll focus on.

I was amazed by the number of people who viewed twitter as an inferior marketing tool. Twitter is amazing, you just have to know how to use it correctly. So, those are my updates and goals for the month. What will you be working on?
